SCHOOL GUIIDE

BURKE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

A MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT RUDOLPH "RUDY" FALANA

Here we are nearing the end of July already and a number of Burke County Public Schools’ staff members are spending part of it getting ready for the 2015-16 school year.

I want to welcome employees, parents, students, and community into the new school year. It is through our team efforts that our students and our school system are able to excel in various areas. Your spirit of collaboration is both needed and appreciated, and I look forward to expanding that collaboration. We have highly qualified, highly effective staff dedicated to serving our students. Among them is a host of new staff, and we’re excited about the knowledge, skills, experience, and expertise coming with them.

Our vision continues to be one of high standards, outstanding performance, and excellence in student achievement. We will continue to be transparent as we build on previous successes as well as address our challenges. We have made some administrative changes that will prove to be in the best interest of everyone involved.

As always, we appreciate your feedback, and look forward to a great year. The district kickoff for the new school year will be Friday, August 31 at BCHS, and our keynote speaker is Dr. Ruby Payne, author, speaker, and career educator.

EDMUND BURKE ACADEMY

A MESSAGE FROM HEADMASTER GREGG BUNN

August 10, 2015, marks the fifty-sixth opening day for Edmund Burke Academy. It is with great excitement that I welcome students, staff, and parents to the 2015-2016 school year. EBA has a reputation of academic excellence where we are dedicated to meeting the needs of every student through individualized instruction and personalized attention. We believe that an environment designed to promote Christian values and cooperation between school and families enables students to grow academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially.

Edmund Burke Academy serves students from K4 through 12th grade so faculty and staff members are invested in each student from start to finish. It is a pleasure to watch children develop into young adults who are contributing positively to their communities.

Open House is scheduled for August 7. I’m looking forward to seeing returning families and meeting our newest Spartans. Each of you brings something singular to the EBA family, and you are important to our school.

Student success is the goal of every staff member, and I urge parents to visit us often and stay connected to your children’s teachers. Together, we can provide each student the experiences he or she needs to have a productive and meaningful childhood while preparing for a successful future.

I am honored to be a Spartan and am delighted to welcome you to another exciting year.

FAITH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY

A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL AMY GRUBB

“So you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Col. 1:10.

Growing in Christ is our theme verse for the 2015-2016 school year. What a terrific year 2015-2016 promises to be for FCA! God has blessed us to grow our school so that we will graduate our first class of seniors this spring. He has provided us with fantastic opportunities for learning and growth, from AP classes and Latin to increased athletic and extracurricular activities. We welcome several new teachers and a new athletic director to our faculty this year. We are looking forward to participating in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association again this year as well as in activities with American Christian Schools, International.

The teachers, staff, and board members have been working hard to prepare classrooms and curriculum for the upcoming school year and are committed to achieving our vision of Christian education through academic excellence. I am looking forward to welcoming back returning students and getting to know our many new students in grades K3-12. Isaiah 40:31 tells us: “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Keep those words in mind as we begin a new school year! I am so thankful for all that God has done for our school as we hope in Him. I am looking ahead to helping all of our FCA Eagles to soar this year as we as we continue to hope in the Lord.
