What's Next?

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20

The Doctor Dad course will be held 6-8 p.m. at Maranatha Community Church located at 1124 Hwy. 25 North just outside of Waynesboro. The free program is open to the public and designed to help fathers promote health, recognize and treat illnesses and prevent injuries. It is sponsored by Enterprise Community Healthy Start and several other local organizations. The course will continue May 27 at the same time and location. Participants are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions.

SATURDAY, MAY 23

The Savannah River Classic Fishing Tournament will be held May 22-23 on the Savannah River. The event is sponsored by the Lower Savannah River Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting nature-based tourism along the river in Burke and six neighboring counties. Registration is $25 per angler and $10 for youth anglers 15-and-under. Prizes will be awarded for largest striped bass, catfish, largemouth and panfish. Captains’ meeting is Friday night and the tournament begins 6:30 a.m. Saturday. To register, call 803-300-7634.

TUESDAY, MAY 26

A Community Blood Drive will be held, 1-6 p.m. at the Wardlow Building at 7th and Academy Avenue in Waynesboro. The drive is sponsored by Shepeard Community Blood Center and all donors get free tickets to the June 5 Greenjackets baseball game.

THURSDAY, MAY 28

Burke County Georgia Young Farmers Association will meet, 7 p.m., in the agriculture classroom at Burke County High School. Anyone of any age interested in any aspect of farming or horticulture is encouraged to attend. The meeting will include information about upcoming events and allow participants to provide input on potential meeting topics and other issues. Officers will also be elected. A free movie night featuring Mom's Night Out will be hosted by Rosemont Baptist Church at 6 p.m. All ladies in the community are welcome for a movie, snacks and fellowship. Childcare is provided at no cost. Call the church at 706-545-2468 to make childcare reservations or for more information.
