From the Blotter

Place to squat

A Macon investor found a surprise inside an old nursing home she purchased. According to a report filed at the sheriff’s office, when she checked her property in mid-February, the locks had been changed and a woman and three children were living there with no utilities. The investor told the woman, who apparently had a verbal agreement with the former owner, that she needed to find another place since construction was about to begin. As of last week, the family hadn’t budged.

Long arm of the …

A pick-up got a good smack from the long arm of the railroad. According to police, a motorist was driving over the tracks at East Sixth Street in Waynesboro when the crossing arm “unsuspectingly” came down on his truck.

Some tunneling burglars caused big damage inside a Sardis home. According to the report, the offenders knocked a hole in the exterior wall and “tunneled in” from under the sink. Inside, they started fires in several different rooms, sprayed fake snow on the walls and cooked grits.

Creeper, peeper

What was supposed to be a romantic bath ended with the creeps. Last week, a couple was relaxing in the tub when they realized a man was watching them through the bathroom window. The husband grabbed a robe and took off after the peeping Tom but couldn’t quite catch up. According to the report, the watcher was described as a slender black man in a red cap. He fled in a dark colored Dodge Charger.
