What's Next?


“Introduction to Foil Fencing” classes are open for registration at the Augusta Fencers Club. Ten-week courses begin Jan. 6 and meet one hour per week. Cost is $180, and all competitive equipment is provided. Separate classes are taught for ages 6-9, 10-13 and adults. Entries for the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative March/Parade are being accepted. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 18 at noon. The deadline for entries is Jan. 10. For more information contact Jackie Payton at 706-437-1758.


A Celebration in Song and Praise will be held, 3 p.m., at Waynesboro Deliverance Evangelistic Church on Old Millen Highway in Waynesboro. The community event is sponsored by Ministers and Congregations in Action and will include music and dance performances.


Burke County Retired Educators Association will meet, 3 p.m. at the Burke County Senior Citizens Center. Guest speaker is Waynesboro Police Chief Augustus Palmer III.


A Free Diabetic Teaching will be offered in the Burke Medical Center classroom, 6-8 p.m. The course is designed to help diabetics learn how to better control their diabetes through healthy eating. Participants should eat before they come and are encouraged to bring along their partners or anyone else who helps with food preparation. Space is limited and pre-registration is encouraged.


WHAT’S NEXT is a complimentary service for non-profit Burke County groups hosting free public events. A fundraising event with an admission fee may be included for $10 per week, paid in advance. Email truecitizennews@live.com. Deadline is noon Thursday.
