For members of the dairy show team, the fall show season was a great chance to exhibit their spring 2013 show heifers a few more times before they returned to the dairies. Dairy show team members exhibited their heifers at the Georgia National Fair and the Georgia-Carolina State Fair. Show team members were Holden Driggers, Tori Martin, Deysi Morales and Michaela Pollex.

Beef Cattle show team members from Burke County were Rebekah Ramey, Christopher Ramey and Shyann Smith. These three 4-Hers exhibited their show heifers and steers at the Georgia National Fair, Georgia-Carolina State Fair, Ogeechee Showdown Heifer and Steer Show in Sylvania and many other shows. They are preparing to show these same heifers and steers at the State Heifer and Steer Show in Perry in February.

Burke County 4-Hers are encouraged to participate in livestock projects because of the many personal values and life skills that can be obtained from learning to select, care for, train and show an animal. Those who are interested in showing livestock through 4-H can contact Rebekah Bowen, 4-H Agent, at rbowen1@uga.edu or Peyton Sapp, County Extension Coordinator, at psapp@uga.edu.
