Deputies believe a Keysville man had a medical emergency seconds before his fatal accident on Story Mill Road.

Erby “Jacky” Minyard, 68, was driving to work around 5:40

m. Friday when he went off the shoulder, over an embankment and struck a tree, according to a spokesperson from the Georgia State Patrol office.

The accident happened four miles from Minyard’s home, just north of Corley Road near the Richmond County line.

The wrecked vehicle was spotted by a hunter just after 7

m.

“My investigation showed it was a probable medical incident that caused (Minyard) to lose control of his vehicle,” deputy coroner Susan Salemi said.

Burke County deputies agreed, noting the absence of brake and skid marks.

“We believe he suffered a seizure just before he wrecked,” Chief Deputy James Hollingsworth said.
