The GISA (Georgia Independent School Association) recently released all-region and all-state honors for the 2010 football season, and eight Spartans made the cut.

Sophomore Hunter Bailey and juniors Michael Taylor, Clint Saxon, Brandon Sharpe, Dawson Atkinson and Logan Christian all claimed all-region honors while seniors Jake Evans and Alex Sturkie topped the list as well. All-state recipients for Edmund Burke were Taylor, Sturkie, Saxon and Sharpe.

Edmund Burke will only see 25 percent of their all-region players graduate this year, while the other six schools in their region will graduate more than 50 percent of their all-region recipients.

Piedmont Academy, 2010 state champs, will have five of their ten all-region members graduate while powerhouse Brentwood Academy will see three of their five all-region players graduate. Sturkie and Evans will be the only two Edmund Burke players with the honor who won’t be on the field for the 2011 season.
