Gwendolyn Fay Risser

Gwendolyn Fay Risser, 39, of Athens, Tenn., passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at her home.

She was born May 22, 1970, in Hagerstown, Md. She was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was known by her family and friends as one who gives without thought of herself. Her highest values were her relationship with God and family. Her thoughtfulness, hospitality and mothering will be sorely missed by her family and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Martin.

She is survived by her husband, Eric Risser, to whom she was married on June 3, 1989; two daughters, Alisha Risser, 16, and Dana Risser, 12; a son, Weston Risser, 8; mother, Hazel Martin of Mill Hall, Pa.; a sister, Tersa Martin of Waynesboro, Ga.; and two brothers, Brian Martin of Mill Hall and Dwight Martin of Fort Francis, Ontario; and her mother and father-in-law, Twila and Robert Risser of Waynesboro, Pa.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 14, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, Etowah, Tenn., with Pastor Howard Brubaker, Pastor Sheldon Risser and Pastor Verlon Miller officiating.

Interment followed in Wellspring Mennonite Church Cemetery.

A white dove release ceremony concluded the service.

The family received friends on Saturday, March 13, from 4- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
