Student improves after bus stop accident

From Staff Reports

A 7-year-old boy who was hit by a car at his bus stop nearly two weeks ago is showing improvement.

Jaquan White has been upgraded to fair condition at the MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesperson.

White and his neighbor, 6- year-old Trevione Sumpter, were hit by a passenger car as they crossed River Road to board their school bus the morning of Thursday, Jan. 21. Both SGA Elementary School students were rushed to MCGHealth, and Sumpter was released later that day.

White remained in the intensive care unit listed in critical condition for five days due to severe head trauma.
