This year’s show saw 115 youth entering 153 dairy heifers. Students competed in weight classes based on their animal’s size. Exhibitors also participated in a showmanship class highlighting the 4-Her’s skills.

Meridith Franks placed first in tenth-grade showmanship and Anna Marie Blackburn placed second in fifth-grade showmanship. Michaela Pollex made a run in the Championship Drive for the show with a first place finish in one weight class and placed fourth with her second heifer. Cynthia Eberly is also on the Dairy Show Team but was not able to attend.

The Burke County Extension Staff would like to give special thanks to Jimmy and Ginny Franks, Morgan Edenfield as well as the 4-H parents and donors who help make opportunities like this available to the youth in our county.

The team will be attending the University of Georgia Spring Dairy Show in Athens Feb. 5-6 as well as the Georgia National Livestock Show in Perry Feb. 18-20.
