Pump it up
The Edmund Burke Academy competition cheerleaders had a lot to celebrate after last Saturday's state competition in Macon. The squad was selected as state runners-up after performing their two and a half minute routine in front of a packed crowd at the First Presbyterian Day School. The routine, which featured tumbling, dancing, stunting and cheering, beat out eight other class AA schools to capture the trophy. Rival Briarwood Academy took home the state championship. The Spartans will compete in one last competition on Dec. 12 in Marietta. Members of the squad are: Taylor Meadows, Anna Ready, Sammy Seay, Brooke Hargrove, Laney Lewis, Ashley Chambers, Lauren Chancey, Jessica Story, Bailie Ruffo, Dylan Smith, Stevie Seay and Katie Reeves and coaches Lynne Meadows and Mary Ann Mead.
