Barks and blessings

Burke County's creatures, both great and small, have been blessed. The Rev. Kit Brinson, assisted by the Rev. Deacon Terri Degenhardt, recently conducted the annual Blessing of the Animals at the Waynesboro city park. St. Michael's Episcopal Church hosts the event each year in honor of St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all creatures. Right, the Rev. Brinson gets to know "Sweetie Pie," a daschund/ chihuahua mix belonging to 9-yearold Ivey Jones, before the ceremony begins. Along with Sweetie Pie and other pets, the reverends blessed a number of Old Fella rescue dogs in need of foster and forever homes. Burke County's creatures, both great and small, have been blessed.
