Father, son sentenced to life for murder
      A Burke County father and his teenage son will spend the rest of their lives in jail for beating a Milledgeville man to death. Mims Morris Sr., 46, and Mims Morris Jr., 18, were convicted by a Putnam County jury last week for murder, robbery and aggravated assault.

Chase ends with cemetery wreck
     Waynesboro Police are looking for the man who led a high speed chase in this borrowed Ford Explorer before totaling it on a cemetery fence. Officer Bruce Petitt said he attempted to pull over Ronderrick Brown, 21, for loud music when he refused to stop and turned into the Golden China parking lot. He looped the parking circle with police behind him three times before taking off down Eighth Street and wiping out at a cemetery fence on Martin Luther King Drive. Brown fled before police could catch up, but a gun, knife and open containers of beer were found in the SUV. Police say he is also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

      Waynesboro Police The following arrests and citations were reported by the Waynesboro Police Department for the past week: Thursday, Sept. 24 • Ben Lee Gresham Jr., 22, of Thomson Bridge Road, Waynesboro, was arrested for criminal attempt - entering an auto.

Clarification
      In last week's From the Blotter, a blip called "Road rage" listed two people charged with disorderly conduct following an argument at a red light. One of those drivers was Mark Dixon, 42, of Millen. According to another Mark Dixon, 41, of Hephzibah, his customers at Burke Pawn and Firearms have mistakenly assumed it was him.

Howard indicted for teen's murder

      A Florida native accused of gunning down a Waynesboro teen then living on the lam for nearly two years has been indicted by a Superior Court Grand Jury. The jury, which was presided over by Judge David J. Roper, found enough evidence to return "true bills" against Stanley "Miami" Howard, 40, for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Twenty more burglaries reported
      Twenty more break-ins have been added to this year's count. Among the most recent victims is a county commissioner, as well a Waynesboro mother whose Fifth Street home was burglarized while she took a shower. According to Waynesboro police, the woman was taking a shower after seeing her husband off last Tuesday morning when she heard some noises outside.

      A real gentleman A Waynesboro man who directed threats toward an officer's wife will have to explain himself to a judge. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, James Eric Burley, 24, was arrested late Friday night after he got out of control at a party held in the old Perfection building.
