Sickening revelations
      The reasons dogfighting is repulsive and illegal are so numerous and obvious that it seems unnecessary to discuss them here. But, the fact that our lead story this week is about a dogfighting operation that has been uncovered here makes it somehow compelling.

      A lady from whom I learned much over the years, Claudia Thompson, died Monday. I first met Mrs. Thompson when she was a substitute teacher for Mr. Pooley Hubert, who taught general science and business math. He was out for several weeks and during that time I learned to spell words which were commonly misspelled.

      10 years ago: October 6, 1999 Senior candidates for Edmund Burke Academy's homecoming queen were Kori Bowers, Elizabeth Dixon and Amy Story. The EBA Spartans maintained their unbeaten record with a win over Augusta Christian.

OLD DAYS GOODIES
      Some of the Old Days Goodies we used to enjoy are no longer available. I am thinking of those delicacies such as homemade butter, pure Georgia Cane syrup, fresh home- made buttermilk, clabber and pure whipped cream. Not Cool Whip, but cream skimmed right off the unhomogenized milk.
