Laura Stone has done it again. Saturday night, the Waynesboro native beat out 20 other contestants to be crowned Miss Atlanta. In the process, she cinched the evening wear competition and won the talent competition with her classical piano performance. Laura's win earns her a third trip to the Miss Georgia Pageant in June 2010. The University of Georgia graduate made top-10 appearances for the state title in 2008 and 2009, finishing most recently as third runner up. She is pictured with pageant princesses Anna Marie and Sally Kate Blackburn, who accompanied her as part of a mentoring program. More ... A Burke County native will host a health fair this weekend in memory of her late brother, Sylvester Moore, who farmed here for decades. This marks the third year Gladys Twyman, a retired educator for Atlanta Public Schools, has returned to her family's home place to host an event to educate area residents on heartrelated illness.
