Bo Ginn Aquarium under new management
By Deborah Bennett Millen News Editor
The Bo Ginn Aquarium at Magnolia Springs State Park, Millen, has been recently renovated and new exhibits have been added. The Bo Ginn Aquarium will stay open after all.
The Jenkins County Development Authority (JCDA) dropped a lifeline to the aquarium at Magnolia Springs State Park after learning it was slated for closure by the State Parks Division of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) due to state budget cuts.
JCDA took over management and operations June 1 and have since made a number of improvements inside and out, including the addition of a gift shop and new exhibits. To cover the cost of these improvements and assist with operating the aquarium, a $1 admission fee is now charged.
Area schools, clubs, private citizens and others are encouraged to visit the Bo Ginn Aquarium and park. Also, donations are being sought to help defer expenses. Those who'd like to contribute should send checks payable to Bo Ginn Aquarium to: 1012 Hwy. 23 N., Millen, GA 30442.
