All dressed up with some place to go
     Teens in Communities in School's summer leadership camp danced the day away. The campers received ballroom dancing and etiquette lessons and were put to the test during a formal dinner and dance at Coradell's Wedding Chapel. In the neighborhood
     Academy Avenue got a facelift Saturday when neighbors turned out to weed, edge, mow and pick up trash. According to residents, several area homes will be on the Christmas tour of homes, and Saturday's clean-up was the first of many. June celebrated as home ownership month
     USDA Rural Development specialist Eugene Love, right, looks on as Burke County Commission Chairman Wayne Crockett signs a proclamation declaring June as National Home Ownership Month. Homeownership Month, celebrated this year with the theme of "Preserving Homeownership," promotes increased ownership among citizens, especially those with low incomes. USDA Rural Development has been making home loans since 1949 and offers direct and guaranteed loans for purchasing homes as well as grants and loans for home repairs.       Claire Elizabeth Syms Chad Russell Syms and Tara Lively Syms of Waynesboro announce the birth of their daughter, Claire Elizabeth, born April 15, 2009 at University Hospital in Augusta. She made her debut at 11:08 a.m. and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Hook, line & sinker
      S ome local youngsters have fallen for fishing ... hook, line and sinker. Volunteers from the Triple Hook Bass Anglers spent Saturday teaching children the basics about fishing, and it paid off with stringers of fish and plenty of enthusiasm.
