A Waynesboro man was set up, robbed and shot three times. Just after midnight Saturday, Waynesboro police responding to reports of gunfire found Demario Lewis, 29, crawling along East 6th Street in blood soaked clothing. The May meeting of the Burke County Board of Education honored more than 456 years of experience when retiring educators and Hubert Reddick, maintenance department, were recognized. Reddick retired with more than 22 years experience. Central Office retirees were assistant superintendent Dr. Ruby Saxon Myles with 35 years, Assistant Superintendent, Wilbert Roberts with 43 years, and Title I Director, Glennera Martin, with 44 years of service. Retiring from Waynesboro Primary School were Eunice Haynes with 32 years and Pam Tison with 30 years of service. Both Carolyn Mosher and Constance Parker are retiring with 34 years from SGA Elementary. Burke County Alternative School retiring educators were Mary Alice Robbins with more than 45 years and Andrew Jenkins with 37 years. Anita Hatcher and Ethel Williams are retiring from Burke County Middle. Hatcher retired with 29 years of service. Pat Roberts is leaving the Burke County High School with 35 years.
