Burke golfers earn more state honors

After claiming the top spot in Georgia's AAA golf, Burke County High School's golf program continues to attract statewide attention.

John Keller was named first team all-state by the coaches association last week. The Armstrong-Atlantic bound golfer was also selected to play on the all-star team for the south end of the state.

Only 24 boys from across Georgia were invited to participate in the Ryder Cup-style tournament, which pits the north part of the state against the south.

Though Keller will be on his senior trip and won't be able to attend, Burke County will still be strongly represented.

Bears athletic director and head golf coach Wade Marchman will coach the south team.

Chris Parker of Columbus will serve as Marchman's assistant coach.

The tournament is being played this week in Moultrie.
