Three Spartans named All-State


Three Edmund Burke Academy standouts earned spots on the GISA AA all-state team this season. Michael Weaver, Brandon Sharpe and Hamp Wade all received honors for their achievements on the diamond. Wade, who also made all-state his junior year, hit 11 homeruns for the Spartans and batted nearly .500 this season. He was also selected to play in the GISA All-Star game being held this Saturday in Macon. Weaver hit over .500 for the season and drove in over 30 RBIs, leading the Spartans in both categories. He also nailed 8 homeruns, 3 of which came in the state playoffs. Sharpe, a freshman, went 11-2 on the mound as the Spartan's ace pitcher. He pitched 70 innings during the season and recorded 104 strikeouts, averaging nearly 1 ½ strikeouts per inning. He ended the season with a 1.32 ERA.
