Magical educator promotes reading

From Staff Reports

Magical Educator Chad Crews will perform his "Creative Reading Extravaganza" at the Burke County Library at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 5, at Midville Library at 2 p.m. and Sardis Library at 4 p.m.

The "Creative Reading Extravaganza" is part of the Vacation Reading Program, which takes place in public li- braries all summer long. Chad's program contains a combination of magic, storytelling, music and live animals and showcases several books about the different routines in the show. He also encourages everyone in the audience to get a library card and to make use of the many features at their local libraries.

Chad has been performing educational programs for libraries and schools for several years. His "Creative Reading Extravaganza" will include a few snakes, dancing, playing a trumpet, drawing and other routines that go along with the performing arts theme of this year's Vacation Reading Program. He encourages children to read and always lets them know that most of his tricks were learned from reading books on magic.

Everyone is invited to attend one of the free shows at your local library, and you can see pictures of past library shows and an online schedule on Chad's website at www.chadcrewsmagic.com.
