From the Blotter

Concrete evidence

Two Sardis residents were startled out of their sleep last Monday. One woman woke up just before 2 a.m. when a cinder block was hurled through her bedroom window. Her 76- year-old neighbor was awakened to windows shattering in her kitchen, dining room and living room. According to the report filed at the sheriff's office, the women have no "concrete ideas" about who might have done the damage.

That's all folks

A suspicious man walking near the Burke Haven Corner Store last week turned over an interesting assortment of accessories when approached by police. When an officer began to frisk Daniel Kevin Wilcher, he admitted to having a pry bar in his pants which he said was for keeping stray dogs away. A few minutes later, he turned over a crack pipe from his pocket. While removing the crack pipe, officers also spotted a container the man used to store his drugs. When asked what else he had on him, he said that was all. Wilcher, 28, of 2002 Ga. Hwy. 17 North, Wrens, was arrested for possession of a drugrelated object and criminal trespass. A $2,600 property bond was posted.

No Bricks about It

A Cherry Street visitor told authorities that her windshield was busted when she tried to leave a residence there. The woman said someone threw a brick straight through her windshield while she was sitting in her car, covering her with broken glass. The brick hurler fled the scene before officers arrived.
