Turkey Creek Field Trials
      Dogs and handlers from all over the country recently gathered at the Burke County farm of Danny and Rose Kent for the second annual spring running of the Turkey Creek Field Trials. Six stakes were drawn for 59 dogs, and 11 of the 20 handlers took home placements.

Scout for Stripe Rust in Wheat

      A potentially devastating wheat disease has been confirmed in Georgia. Puccina striiformis (stripe rust, yellow rust) was confirmed last week in Tift and Colquitt counties. Reports are that it was in other counties as well, even as far east as Bulloch County. Stripe rust is not something we would see every year in Burke County.
