The rivals next door won't savor any victories over the Bears this basketball season. The Burke County Bears (6-3) put away the Jefferson County Warriors with a 65-62 win last Saturday. As 2009 begins, the Spartans and Lady Spartans start their region play on the basketball court. Both teams will face region foe Frederica Academy this Friday in St. Simons, with the girls' game beginning at 6 p.m. On Saturday, they'll face the Matadors of Memorial Day in Savannah, with the girls tipping off at 2 p.m. More ...
