School council

The Burke County High School school council will meet 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the BCHS conference room.

UDC

The Margaret Jones #27 United Daughters of the Confederacy will meet  10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the American Legion across from Bi-Lo.

Steve Burke will share his knowledge of Civil War uniforms and weaponry.

All members are encouraged to attend.

DAR

The Edmund Burke Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet  11:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the American Legion on Liberty Street, across from Bi-Lo. The program will be on quilts. Any members with a quilt are asked to bring them for display.

Handel reception

A reception for Karen Handel, Georgia Secretary of State, will be held  2:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Law Offices of Merrill & Stone LLC and Jackson #. Cox P.C. The public is invited.

Genealogical society

The Burke County Genealogical Society will meet  7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the Burke County Library. The public is invited.

Clark reunion

Descendants of Charles Clark III are invited to the 74th annual family reunion to be held  10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Clark’s Chapel. The Home Grown Band will perform.

Class of ’89

The Burke County Comprehensive Class of 1989 will meet 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Burke County Library to plan the 20th class reunion. For more information, call Trinetta Skinner at 706-554-8006 or Elaine Stokes at 706-437-6845.

Keysville celebration

The 20th annual Come Back to Keysville Day will be held  11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. State Rep. Gloria Frazier will be keynote speaker. There will be a parade, marching bands, entertainments and food. For more information, call 706-547-3007 or 706-547-3008.

Voter education

A Burke County Board of Elections and Registration voter education person will be at Burke County High School  11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and at the Burke County Library 2-4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20. Demonstration on voting equipment, sample ballots and information will be on hand.
