Bears put Pirates under in Brunswick

      The Bears gave the Pirates a sinking feeling last Saturday. Burke County High School's football team (2-2) took down Brunswick High School 29-22 in the last nonregion match-up for both schools. The win evened up the Bears record for pre-region play that pitted them entirely against AAAA teams.

Cubs sharpen their claws on the gridiron

      The Burke County Middle School Cubs are playing like Bears again this season. The seventh-grade team (4-0) beat Screven County Middle School 42-18 last week to win the region title. The seventh grade program has now gone three years without a single loss.
