     Regina White, center, was crowned Miss Black Burke County 2008 at the annual pageant. Caleesha Crockett, left, was first runner-up, and second runner up was Brittney Johnson, right. The pageant was held last weekend at Burke County Office Park with WJBF's Fraendy Clervaud as emcee.

      10 years ago: Sept. 2, 1998 The Burke County Development Authority announced it would spend up to $1.5 million to construct a new "spec" industrial building. Corinda Jeanerald Herrington, 17-year-old daughter of John and Joyce Herrington, was named Miss Black Burke County for 1998.

      Angela and Teddy Collingsworth of Hephzibah announce the birth of their daughter, Laila Parker, born Aug. 14, 2008. She weighed 1 pound, 13 ounces, and was 13½ inches long. Angela is the former Angela Walton of Waynesboro.
