Second rape reported in northern Burke

      A second Richmond County woman says she was raped in Burke County. Early last Wednesday morning, the 34-year-old victim told deputies two black men in a white car offered her a ride when they saw her walking along Bobby Jones Expressway just after 4 a.m.

      Two teenagers were arrested for what appears to have been consensual sex. A Waynesboro mother took her 13-year-old daughter to the emergency room Aug. 23 after learning she'd had sex with a 17-year-old.

Padgett appointed judge

      The governor has appointed Columbia County's Chief Magistrate Judge as the newest Superior Court Judge on the Augusta Judicial Circuit. Wade Padgett, 43, will officially take the bench on Jan. 31 when Judge Duncan Wheale retires.
