Bears open season against Effingham County Friday

      The Bears need to toughen up Friday night. Burke County High School will play the season opener against the Effingham County Rebels, and head coach Eric Parker said his team needs to get physical if they want to beat the AAAA school.

      Two Burke County residents scored big at the National Wild Turkey Federation's 15th annual turkey shoot in Forsyth. Stanton Hillis of Girard slammed the other 600 competitors with triple wins.
