Marjorie Rose Edmonds and Richard Thomas Harper were united in marriage 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at United Methodist Church of Norwood. The groom's grandfather, the Rev. Randy Carnley, officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Edmonds of Waynesboro and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lubbers of Auxvasse, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Edmonds of Rensselaer, Ind.
She is a 2004 graduate of Burke County High School and the Georgia Institute of Cosmetology of Augusta.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James G. Harper of Warrenton and Andrea Chapman of Daytona, Fla. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Carnley of Gordon and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Harper of Warrenton.
He is a 2004 graduate of Glascock County Consolidated School and a 2006 graduate of Nashville Automotive Diesel College. Richard, an airman for the United States Navy, is currently stationed in Norfolk, Va., and is assigned to the USS George W. Bush.
Special music for the ceremony included Kenny Chesney's "Me and You," which was played during the unity candle ceremony.
Church decorations were designed by the mother and friends of the bride.
The groom's father was best man, and Jonathan Edmonds of Waynesboro, brother of the bride, and Adam and Gregory Harper, both of Warrenton, brothers of the groom, served as ushers.
The bride chose her sister, Crystal Edmonds of Waynesboro, to serve as maid of honor.
She wore a pink sleeveless tealength gown.
Elizabeth Harper of Warrenton, sister of the groom, was flower girl.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a strapless floor-length white flowing gown with a slight train. The dress was accented with a rhinestone broche.
Reception
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church's fellowship hall.
The bride's mother and friends served as hosts for the reception and also decorated the social hall.
After a honeymoon trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C., the couple make their home in Norfolk.
