Mr. Donnie James 'Jamie' Walker

Donnie James "Jamie" Walker, 37, of Waynesboro, Ga., beloved husband, father and friend, resident of 1024 Saxon Rd., husband of Julie Amalia Alvarez Walker, died July 31, 2008, in Augusta, Ga., from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Born in Greenwood, S.C., March 1, 1971, he was a son of Sandra Collins Cogdell and Donnie James Rush.

He was a graduate of Green- wood High School and was an avid drag racer, known as "Iron Man" in bracket racing throughout Georgia and South Carolina. Jamie was a member of the International Hotrod Association (IHRA).

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and mother of Greenwood are two sons, Tanner James Walker and Stephen Brannon Walker, both of the home; a daughter, Brittley Nicole Walker of Saluda, S.C.; and two brothers, Tony Walker and Danny Walker, both of Greenwood, S.C.

Pallbearers were Tim Timmerman, Jimmy Gossett, Victor Dukes, Jamie McCord, Furman Pyles and Jeff Redd.

The family is at the home of his brother, Tony and Pam Walker, 5914 Hwy 178 S. in Greenwood, S.C. and received friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Monday evening.

A fund to pay Jamie's hospital expenses will be established soon and this information will be posted on the Blyth Funeral Home website.
