Scissors and bricks

Police responded to two complaints involving nontraditional weapons.

Saturday evening, two young Waynesboro residents said an older man and woman came into their yard without permission and started an argument.

When asked to stop coming through their yard, the woman reportedly showed them some scissors and threatened to use them.

The next day, a Waynesboro man showed up at Burke Medical Center following an argument with his girlfriend's 20-year-old son. According to the report, the man took a blow to the head with a brick and received a wound that required six staples.

Piece of work A creative thief got away with a car last week.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, a teenage girl answered the door of her Blythe home and was greeted by a man in coveralls who said he was there to pick up the car for repair work.

The girl tried to telephone her parents but was unable to reach them and handed over the keys.

The parents called deputies when they came home from work to find that their car had been stolen.

Fish and game

A Waynesboro burglar has a taste for the wild side.

Last week, a Burkehaven resident reported the thief helped himself to numerous food items from a carport freezer.

According to the report, the burglar stole sea bass, sea trout and two boxes of quail.
