Driver backs into toddler, leaves scene A Keysville man was arrested after he backed into a toddler at a convenience store. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, 53-year-old Charlie Broxton was arrested for hit and run last Thursday. The 2-year-old was walking through the Jet Food Store parking lot with his mother when Broxton backed into him. Police say the boy was knocked to the ground and had to crawl out from under the truck on hands and knees. "It's a wonder he wasn't killed," Maj. Mary Bennett said. The child's mother told police that Broxton got out of his pickup and checked on her son, who appeared to be okay, but left the scene when she went to her vehicle to call 911. Police telephoned Broxton a short time later, and he reported to police headquarters where he was interviewed and arrested. The boy was transported to Burke Medical Center with minor injuries. |
