Genealogical society

The Burke County Genealogical Society will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Burke County Library.

The speaker will be Jesse C. Stone, whose presentation will be about the early Burke County naturalist John Abbott.

The public is invited.

The Deliverance School of Ministry in Waynesboro is currently holding registration for fall semester 2008, from 6-9 p.m.

Diabetic teaching

A free diabetic teaching class will be available at Burke Medical Center 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

Space is limited.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a partner or person who does their food preparation.

GLSP

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will meet with senior citizens wanting free legal help 8:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Burke County Senior Center.

Help is available to senior citizens age 60 or older who have a civil, noncriminal legal issue.
