Mrs. Mamie E. "Jean" Arrington Mrs. Mamie E. "Jean" Arrington of Augusta, Ga., entered into rest Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Funeral services will be held at St. James United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Linda Birchall officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Mrs. Mamie E. "Jean" Arrington was the wife of the late Roy Arrington. She was a native of Statesboro and lived most of her life in Augusta. She graduated from Statesboro High School in 1946, was an employee of Statesboro Telephone Company, and retired from IBEW local union 1579 in Augusta. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and the Nowell Bible Class. Mrs. Arrington was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. Family members include her son, Paul E. Arrington and wife Carol of Dacula, Ga.; grandchildren, William S. Arrington and Mackenzie G. Arrington. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Roy Arrington; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Solie O. Preetorius; a brother, William S. Preetorius; and a sister, Hilda Gettis. Pallbearers will be William Arrington, Matthew Ricks, Gerald King, Harold Mock, Doug Faulkner, Henry Wylds, Walter Harwood Sr. and Charlie May. Memorials may be made to the St. James United Methodist Building Fund, 439 Greene St. Augusta, GA 30901. The family wishes to thank the staff of Golden Living Nursing Home (Windemere) for their love and care.
