Sharp shooters
Burke County 4-H SAFE team competed in the district modified trap (shotgun) competition on Saturday, April 19, at Hanging Rock Plantation. Certified coaches, David Hogan and Rick McDaniel, reported that 13 of the 17 team members qualified for the state competition to be held at Rock Eagle. The Burke team also had three shooters who had perfect scores of 25 out of 25. These shooters went into shoot-off rounds with Jake Evans advancing to seven rounds of shooting doubles before missing. He finished second out of 260 overall shooters in the individual competition. Hamilton Hogan and Wesley Oellerich also had perfect scores.
