Mrs. Norma Jeanette Callan
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 10, at Westover Gardens at 11 a.m. She was the daughter of Dr. Earl and Alice Cunningham of Norfolk, Va.. As a 40 year resident of Augusta, she retired from the VA Hospital after an extensive career of civil service that began at the Naval Base in Norfolk, and the Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. Longtime Augustans will remember Norma as the witty and charming co-owner of the landmark fly-in, drive-in Village Inn Restaurant, formerly at Daniel Field during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. She leaves cherished loving memories to her son, James E. Callan III (Cary, N.C.), and daughter, Tracey Toohey (Milford, Kan.); their spouses; and her five grandchildren; Addison, Carly, Dylan, Hunter and Kirby.
