Teen arrested after assaulting grandmother

A 16-year-old Hephzibah boy was arrested Saturday after he pushed his grandmother down and stole her prescription medication.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the boy broke into his grandmother's room and demanded her cell phone and medication.

When she refused and tried to call 911, he pushed her down and wrestled them from her.

When deputies arrived they found the partially emptied pill bottles on the hood of a car. They also found a chair in front of an open gas tank where the boy had apparently been inhaling the fumes.

The teen was charged with unruly juvenile and transported to a treatment facility in Atlanta.
