Mrs. Edna Watts Allen
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, from First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Carter and the Rev. Marshall Singletary officiating. Interment services followed at Burke Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Allen was born in Concord, Ga., on June 8, 1924 to the late John Wesley Watts and Willie Amanda Gilbert Watts. She was employed at Burke County Schools for more than 20 years as a para-professional before retiring. Mrs. Allen had served as the den mother for the Boy Scouts Pack # 25, the chairwoman for the March of Dimes, and had volunteered for the Exchange Club working at the fair. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro. The family received friends Monday, May 5, from 6 until 8 p.m. at DeLoach Funeral Home. Family members include two sons, Karl E. Allen (Sue) of Waynesboro and Michael W. Allen (Renee) of Keithsville, La.; a sister; Annie Ruth Watts Page of Newnan, Ga.; six grand children, Holly McKinney, Jennifer Allen, Jessica Allen, Kellie Allen Folker, Julie Allen and Karl Allen; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by two children; Phillip and Caroline Allen. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box: 420, Waynesboro, GA 30830. DeLoach Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 842 Liberty St, Waynesboro, GA 30830 is serving the Allen family. |
