WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Robert C. Neely, Jr., 85, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at University Hospital in Augusta. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 4, at 3 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 515 S. Liberty St., Waynesboro, GA with the Rev. Steve Rice officiating.

Mr. Neely was a lifelong resident of Waynesboro, son of the late Louise Calhoun 
Robert C. Neely Jr.
Phinizy and Robert C. Neely, Sr. and a member of St. Michael’s. He was a certified real estate appraiser and member of the Burke County Board of Assessors for many years. A graduate of Sewanee Military Academy and the University of Georgia, Mr. Neely served in the Army in Europe from 1943-1946. Following his military service, he was a farmer and pecan producer and processor. He was the former president and manager of Neely Bonded Cotton Warehouse and owner of CSRA Land Co.Mr. Neely was a director and past president of the Georgia Field Trial Association, past president of the Waynesboro Rotary Club and past director of the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Master Appraisers.

 
He is survived by his wife, Jane W. Neely; a sister, Lillian N. Willis; two sons, Robert C. Neely III (Patricia) and Charles G. Neely (Marsha); two daughters, Mary Dee Palmer (Ben) and Betty Tetterton (Ronnie); two stepsons, Cleve Mobley (Marlette) and Warren Mobley (Sara); and 16 grandchildren, Sara Ben-Asher, Kathryn N. Ward, Robert C. Neely IV, Travis C. Neely, Amber M. Heath, Nathan J. Neely, Justin D. Neely, Rachel A. Neely, Charles G. Neely, Brandon C. Neely, Trey Mobley, Dustin Mobley, Caleb Mobley, Tinsley Mobley, Jane Mobley and Jordan Mobley.
 
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Robertson’s Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, 220 E. Sixth St., Waynesboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 50, Waynesboro, GA 30830 or to the charity of one’s choice.
