Spartans end tennis season Tennis season officially ended for the Spartans last week when junior Kayla Milligan was eliminated from the state tournament in the first round. She faced a player from Monroe Academy Tuesday morning and lost the match, 6- 4, 7-5. Head coach Carol Hogan said the match was close and that she was disappointed not to see Milligan advance. "The tennis season as a whole was a winning one for the boys and girls," Hogan said, adding that both teams posted records of 7-3 to finish out the season. "Both teams were composed of seasoned players, as well as many newcomers. It's going to be difficult having some leave … but it's equally exciting with new talent coming onboard … Nancy (Blanchard, assistant coach) and myself really love these kids, and we appreciate all the parents for their support." |
