Terrance Lakes

Petty Officer Terrance Lakes has graduated with honors from the Center for Information Dominican School in Pensacola, Fla.

He will be stationed at the Navy Cyber Defense Operation Command in Little Creek, Va.

He is the son of Sallie Patterson of Waynesboro and Joe McKelton of Girard. Grandparents are Henry and Fannie Lakes Jr. and the late Hattie McKelton.

Shirley Johnson

Shirley Johnson recently passed the certification examination to earn the Certified Medical Assistant credential.

She is a graduate of the medical assisting program at Swainsboro Technical College and is employed by Children Healthcare of Statesboro.

THE CMA exam, administered by the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), tests clinical and administrative knowledge needed for competent medical assisting practice and is the only medical assisting exam that requires all candidates to be graduates of an accredited postsecondary program.

Amy Bunn

Amy Bunn was recognized during the University of Georgia's 2008 Honors Day for her outstanding classroom performance.

Honors Day at UGA was introduced by Chancellor S.V. Sanford in 1930 to give public recognition to the students who achieved scholastic honors. All full-time undergraduate and professional students in the University who stand in the top 5 percent of their class are recognized.

Amy is a 2007 graduate of Edmund Burke Academy and the daughter of Gregg and Kim Bunn of Waynesboro.

Audrey Lewis

Audrey Alexandria Lewis recently competed in the University of Georgia School of Law 1st Year Russell Moot Court competition where she placed in the Russell Distinguished Eight.

The competition included 220 UGA first-year law students who presented oral appellate arguments to a panel of judges. Those who place in the Russell Distinguished Eight receive an invitation to join UGA Law's Moot Court Team, which consists of 40 members and is one of the most distinguished programs at the UGA School of Law.

Lewis is a 2003 graduate of Burke County High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Georgia, where she received a bachelor's degree in political science.

She is the daughter of Willie and Ellen Lewis of Waynesboro.
