Marine 2nd Lt. Frank Griffin was taking part in a five-week maneuver in Puerto Rico. Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Bevan announced the engagement of their daughter Marianne to Mr. Claude William Hopper Jr. 75 years ago: April 28, 1933 The Edmund Burke Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution announced that markers would be placed on the new Peach Orchard Road designating it as the "George Washington Highway." The markers would memorialize Washington's visit here 102 years earlier. Almost 2,000 acres of crops near Midville were badly damaged by a hail storm and required replanting. |
