Ms. Mary Byrd Shivers

Ms. Mary Byrd Shivers, 93, of Waynesboro, Ga., entered into rest Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Keysville Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday (today), April 23, 2008 at Rose Dhu Cemetery in Vidette with Dr. Neely Gaston of Due West, S.C. officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.

She was born Sept. 3, 1914 in Jefferson County to the late Barney and Lily Byrd.

Ms. Shivers had lived in Burke County for the past 72 years. She was a homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was a member of the Vidette Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Shivers Sr.

Family members include four children, Paul H. Shivers Jr. (Judy) of Waynesboro, John G. Shivers (Gloria), Frances Johnson (Gary), and Ann Bevan (Frank), all of Vidette; nine grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchilden, and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are being accepted, but memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
