Mr. Raleigh Webster White

Raleigh Webster White of Millen entered into rest Thursday, April 17, 2008 after an extended illness.

His funeral was 3 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at Elam Baptist Church with the Rev. Lindell Ainsworth officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

A native of Cumming, Mr. White was born Aug. 8, 1917. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He was a farmer, and he was retired from the John C. Wilson Co. He was a deacon of Elam Baptist Church, and a friend to his community.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Stuart White, in 1996.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Ophelia Newsome White; his daughter, Sharon White Holton, and her husband, Glynn, of Statesboro; his son, Raleigh Stephen White, and his wife, Wanda, of Sardis; his daughter-in-law, Jimmie Faye White; five grandchildren, Kelly Holton of Decatur, Mat- thew Glynn Holton of Athens, Erin White of Rome, Jason Raleigh White of Statesboro and Melissa White of Millen; four sisters, Ruby Hughes of Lawrenceville, Ollie Wall of Dawsonville and Naomi Lowe and Viola White, both of Cumming; and a brother, Ralph White of Stockbridge.

Active pallbearers were Matthew Holton, Jason White, Danny Bennett, Dewey Newton Jr., Mitchell Johnson and Rayburn Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers were present and former employees of John C. Wilson Co., Men's Sunday School Class and Anthony Cowart.

The family would like to thank friends and neighbors and employees of Bethany Nursing Center and United Hospice for their kindness during his illness.
