One-hundred fifty cyclists pedaled their way through Burke County yesterday (Tuesday) as spectators lined the streets to watch. Tour de Georgia made its first appearance in this area, traveling through Sardis in one of the final stretches of the seven-day race, which began in Tybee Island and ended in Augusta yesterday afternoon. The City of Sardis served as one of the final checkpoints where times were recorded. Although onlookers got only a quick glimpse of the cyclists, the pack was preceded by event organizers who entertained them and treated them with souvenirs and candy.
