Lady Bears send three to state

      Three Burke County High girls earned their spot to compete at the state track meet in Albany next weekend. Freshman Chardae Washington and sophomores Jaquetta Chandler and Alaytra Carswell qualified for the state meet after placing in the top two of their events in Region 3-AAA.

Playoffs in sight for Bears baseball

      It all comes down to this Friday. The Burke County High School baseball team will face Benedictine Military School for their last region game of the regular season. If they win, they'll make the playoffs. If they lose, the Bears will pack up their gear for the season.

      The Lady Bears must play better under pressure ... much better. The Burke County High School girls golf team not only shot their lowest round of the year at the Region 3-AAA tournament Monday, but turned in the lowest score in Burke County girls golf history.

Spartan golfers head to state

      The Spartan golf team heads to state competition next week after finishing third in Region 2-AA. Edmund Burke Academy shot a 325 on Monday, April 21, finishing just 5 strokes behind last year's region and state champs, Trinity Christian School, who hosted the tournament.

      The Spartans dropped another region game after a 7-3 loss to Memorial Day School last Tuesday, April 15, but picked up a win Monday, April 21, against Thomas Jefferson Academy. The Spartans defeated the Jaguars 13-5.

Milligan eliminated in state tournament

Smith signs with Stallions
      Edmund Burke Academy senior Bernie Smith will continue his golf career in college. Smith recently penned a deal to join ABAC's (Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College) Golden Stallions golf team. The scholarship includes full tuition and books.
