George Lloyd

George Lloyd, age 66, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Burke Medical Center in Waynesboro, Ga.  His funeral service will be held Thursday, May 1 at Waynesboro Deliverance Evangelistic Church, Highway 25 South in Waynesboro at 3 p.m.

Mr. Lloyd was born on Aug. 22, 1941 in Columbia, S.C., to the late Rosalee Lloyd and Georgia Lloyd Sr. He was reared by his aunt, Julia Bell Haynes in a loving home with a sister, Juanita Lloyd Stanton (Cerveria) of New York, N.Y.  Other siblings were Rosa Bell Brown and Ernestine Garvin.

He was educated in the elementary schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. His professional career began as an insurance agent with Pilgrim Health and Life and Atlanta Life, respectively. He also was employed with the Burke County Board of Education as a paraprofessional with 21st Century After School Program, Burke County Alternative School and Blakeney Elementary.

Survivors include a loving wife, Early Saxon Lloyd; sons, Anthony and Romunda Lloyd of Millen, Ga., and Gerald Lloyd of Augusta, Ga.; daughters, Valerie Arnold (Albert) of Atlanta, Ga. and Allison Anthony (Anton) of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sisters, Juanita Lloyd Stanton (Cerveria) of New York, N.Y., Rosa Bell Brown and Ernestine Garvin of Columbia, S.C.; mother-in-law, Annie Saxon of Keysville, Ga.; and numerous relatives, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, sister and brother-in-laws and friends.

Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday April 30 (today) at Carter’s Mortuary, 885 Waters St.., Waynesboro, GA 30830.
