Mr. David Eugene Clayton Sr.

David Eugene Clayton Sr., 54, of Alexander, Ga., entered into rest Sunday, April 6, 2008, at the Medical College of Georgia after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, Alexander, today, (Wednesday,) April 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Bethel Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 12, 1953 to Monnie A. Clayton Sr. and Bessie Landing Clayton Robinson.

He was the owner of Clayton Construction and Clayton Trucking. Mr. Clayton attended Botsford Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his father.

In addition to his mother, family members include his wife, Gerald Anne McClain Clayton of Alexander; a daughter, Lori Clayton Martin (Evan) of Waynesboro; son, David E. Clayton Jr. of Alexander; a grandson, Clayton C. Anderson of Waynesboro; a sister, Brenda C. Wolfe of North Augusta, S.C.; brothers, Tommy Clayton (Susan) of Weston, Fla., Melvin Clayton (Rita), Monnie Clayton Jr. (Angie), all of Waynesboro, and Curtis Clayton (Angie) of Sardis; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received guests at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Tuesday, April 8, from 6 until 8 p.m. Friends were invited to call at the Clayton home.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Clayton, Adam Clayton, Josh Clayton, Al McClain III, Glynn Bassett, Brad McClain, Mark McClain Jr., and Flint McClain.
