UDC pays tribute to Confederate veterans
From Staff Reports

Twenty-seven Confederate veterans will be remembered at Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro this Saturday, April 12.

At 11 a.m., the Margaret Jones Chapter No. 27 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) will hold its annual Confederate Memorial Service.

According to organizers, the service will honor the soldiers "who gave their lives in service of the South." Although all were soldiers, the veterans were also doctors, lawyers, bankers, printers, farmers, teachers and small business owners.

Past president Brenda Lackman will lead the ceremony, as well as a walking tour of the grave sites.

UDC members invite the public to attend and encourage them to bring lawn chairs, as well as clippings of whatever may be in bloom to scatter on the soldiers' graves.
